Pakistan Denies Microsoft’s Exit, Labels Reports Misleading

After widespread media speculation suggesting that tech giant Microsoft had shut down its operations in Pakistan, the government has strongly refuted the claims, labeling them as “false and misleading.”

In an official statement, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication of Pakistan addressed the rumors, clarifying that Microsoft has not closed any office in the country. The ministry further emphasized that Microsoft never had a permanent or registered office in Pakistan to begin with, making the shutdown narrative factually incorrect.

Islamabad called out the media reports as part of what it described as “anti-Pakistan propaganda” aimed at creating unnecessary panic and damaging the country’s image in the global tech and investment community. The ministry’s clarification, issued on Saturday (June 5), aims to put an end to the misinformation circulating across digital and traditional media platforms.

This response highlights the importance of verifying information before drawing conclusions, especially when it involves major international companies and their presence in emerging markets like Pakistan.
