The Commissioner of Karachi has enforced a prohibition on the flying, production, and sale of kites within the country’s commercial hub. This measure has been implemented under Section 144 by the senior city official to safeguard citizens from the dangers posed by kite strings. The commissioner emphasized that certain individuals are manufacturing sharp-edged ‘manjha’ (string) which poses significant hazards and has resulted in severe injuries to citizens. The ban on kite flying will be effective from March 30 to May 29. Concurrently, at least eight individuals have suffered injuries due to stray kite strings in the port city. Motorcyclists are advised to adhere to the following guidelines to prevent injuries caused by kite strings.
